*sigh* the "equipment"

Does your book have 10 chapters missing? Did you pay $1300 for a 4 year old dell laptop? Tired of the old desktops and slow network?

I disagree Sheep but as I said previously I am a minority apparently and anything I say will only bring argument. :(

Ok look, yes this site is negative towards ITT, but as our motto says We Expose the lies, Speak the Truth about ITT and the scam. That is what we are doing, there are very rare instances where i would actually say something positive about the school, VERY RARE.

We are haters, but we got style. So make some posts about what you think like books, classes, labs, FA, reps and all of that crap. Just make sure you post them in the right sections.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with speaking your mind or what-not, I'm just saying I am having a different experience than others. It's rather depressing reading a 2 page long thread about how crappy something is without having an opposing view thrown in there. Visitors may form their own opinions but since we are being honest I figured I should add to the convo. ;)

Almost all the ports on the pcs are USB 1.1, due to ITT not upgrading the pcs to XP SP2. We are still stuck on SP1.

I think maybe USB 2.0 has been around WAY longer than XP SP2. Whatever. But I don't know and I don't care. I just go to my menial labor job and drink until I pass out and do it again the next day. (See you in the lake of fire ITT tech PR persons and abusive "teachers.")

They are using an "upgrade" if you can call it that, for the chipset in these pcs, that only supports USB 1.1.

Any time you use a USB device, a window pops up that says "Your device could work faster if connected to a USB 2.0 port" message. Well, where the fuck are these USB 2.0 ports?

You also cannot save anything to a USB deice unless it is formatted to FAT32. Even a Flash drive. NTFS and FAT don't cut it. The IT guys lay claim to "It's for security reasons". "We don't want anyone running dangerous software or tools on our network". And then they like to say the line "None of the computers here are managed in the ITT building, they're ran on a server in *********************." I've heard them say three different locations.

What I don't understand, is why they don't take the PCs off the shitty servers, and run them right from the campus? They have so many network shelvings right there in the school! They can also get the software to run easier if they manage it themselves. It would also take them less time to maintain the PCs rather than having to contact the areas where the servers are located and tell them to "reimage" the PCs.

Agh...

EDIT:

Here is a wonderful photo of the high-tech soldering iron you get from ITT:
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p192 ... ngiron.jpg

That is after one month of usage. When I say usage, I mean no burning plastic off wires, no scraping the tip, consistent sponge-wiping.

And then, the Aoyue iron comes into play. 4 months of all of the above, and more. Shit cost me $38, and I wonder how much it cost to get that piece of garbage at ITT...

i just wanted to say how shitty the laptops are i paid 1,500 for mine and it was worth 500 at best and it would be kinda sweet if you actually got to keep all the software they give you but you don't even get that it says right on it when you get the laptop that the software is no longer yours when your done with school not even the operating system if your still dumb enough to go to itt don't buy the laptop it sucks the only reason mine still works is because i split the hard drive and put ubuntu on it when i tried to put xp back on it it just froze and all i heard from the recruiter is how sweet the laptop was and talking like i would need it for class used car salesmen is what he sounded like but i was young and gullible at the time i get it in the mail and what a joke

Oh ya they sell the laptop for 1500, but on dell they were 499, not the latitude 120l is discontinued, so they went for the next shitty model.

When I went to ITT we regularly spent half of our class time dealing with obsolete equipment malfunctions from 1999-2003 hardrives.

From that point on end,the instructor decided to quit teaching and order Domino's Pizza for the class room 0_o!!!!

I had the pleasure to purchase one of the high quality laptops that Itt-tech supplied for $1300 then looked at the selling price online and found it for $450!!!!! Thanks Itt-tech for the great deal on the laptop......NOT!!! Oh yeah the text books were great half the chapters missing and the seam of the book cut into the other half of the pages.

At ITT Troy, all of the equipment looks like garage sale purchases. The projector carts that sometimes actually work looks like it was assembled by a 2nd grader. Why use an extension cord? Just link together 3 different power strips. That is so Mickey Mouse, I would be embarassed to pass it off as my work.

All of the PCs are absolute garbage. They are not even worth the cost of the security cable that ties them to the table. None of my classrooms have working PCs. The copy machines break down every other day. The white boards in the classrooms are so filthy you can read the notes from the last 2 lectures in that room.

ITT Troy is a total and utter joke. No wonder employers laugh at any resume from that place.

To ITT Troy administrators:

How about taking some of that pizza money you spend from our tuition dollars to lure in hungry retarded students and spending it on some whiteboard markers for the instructors to use. I swear every class I take has the teacher using a worn out markers.

I don't go to school to choke down "free" $5 cold cardboard pies from Little Caesers. Your sh*tty reputation might improve by at least supplying the basics. If your priorities are that far out of whack, do society a favor and close down!

If you guys want to get a laptop worth a damn, just get something from HP.

Being a well-experienced, non-cert'ed tech, I know my shit. HP makes great stuff, and have reliable tech support.

This cost me $614.78:

3GB DDR2 RAM
AMD Athlon X2 64 Dual-Core Processor
16'' screen
Dual-Layer Lightscribe DVD+/- RW writer
Windows Vista (Replaced it with W7)

Save yourself the time and money. Please, get yourself something worthwhile. Save yourself from ITT Tech at all costs.

Ya, i agree. Well i made the mistake of getting the laptop but i utilized the AWESOME 3 year warranty. Had the system replaced by Way better models (went from 512mb ram, Core) to a Core 2 Duo 2gb machine with a gfx that supports aero. And everytime it got replaced (nothing wrong with it, except my made up BS), it extended the warranty 3 more years each time.

Now normally i wouldn't do such a thing, but fuck i got to make the most out of the shit laptop they OVERCHARGED me for. Shit but now i got Server-7 (see post, maybe ill post some pics, i built it myself).

Beefing it up, are we, SA? :P

Hell, I figure, if you'll be spending that much money on a refurb POS from God-forbid, Dell (Personal experience, bad tech support, drivers are a fucking treasure quest), then just save up your money into the first 3- months of school, and get something worthwhile. Make your own warranty, and get the knowledge you deserve.

Having someone else do the job for you does not cut it for me.
