Do yourself a favor, stay away from for-profit schools. They just want your money and they are not respected among employers and most people.
Go to a community college and/or a university. Its 2X CHEAPER than ITT or Devry if you go to a 4 year state school and 6X cheaper if you go to a community college,
You will hate ITT/Devry/UoP. They don't offer any campus life, their classes suck, their subjects and content are middle school level, and they are TOO EXPENSIVE.
20K a YEAR for ITT/Devry/UoP
20K for a BS (4 year degree) at a state school - Thats 20K TOTAL
3-4K a year for C.C. (or even cheaper).
If you want more information, go to ItTakesTime.org - its a site about ITT and their scam.
The common interpretations about ITT are:
Cheaper and quicker than a university and Community College
Fact: NO ITT costs 22K per year + high interest.
Community colleges cost 2-4K, ASU costs about 9-10K a year, so do many other state universites.
ITT is better or highly regarded as an education institution.
Fact: Hell NO, ITT is a slackers paradise, show up and you pass, grades mean nothing, you don't have to turn in your work. Tests are open note/book or you can take it home for a week. ITT classes are crap, they are middle school level and they don't teach the proper material. They don't cover advanced topics or most standard job requirements. The teachers are not even qualified, most are just people in a related field (like a realtor as an economic teacher, ya i had that 1). They also curve the grades, nobody fails the class as long as you show up, most teachers even tell you that.
ITT works around my schedule:
Fact: No they don't, when you have a schedule conflict they blame it on you. I was on mornings, then the last quarter i attended i got put on evenings, so did my entire morning classmates, with no reason and no warning.
ITT is accredited and credits transfer
Fact: Ya if you consider a fake accrediating agency real. No other school besides ITT, devry, UoP, and other for-profit schools accept ITT Tech's credits. ITT is not regionally accredited either. Universities do not accept ITT's credits, despite what the ITT reps say.
ITT Reps care about you
Fact: They are just a salesman, they get paid on commission, they will say anything to get a signature BEWARE.
ITT Classes are Hand On:
Fact: No they aren't infact they are more theory than the 2 CC colleges i been too.
ITT has smaller class sizes
Fact: They have around 20 students in class, you can get small class sizes at a community college for 4 times LESS than ITT.
ITT Talks to employers and gets graduates jobs
Fact: This is a lie, they say they have a community committee where talk to employers. THey do not have any relationship. The ITT job fairs consist of Border patrol, waste management, bakeries, and mostly employment agencies.
ITT is easier
Fact: Yes this is the only thing that is true, its very easy, you don't need to learn anything or even do your work and you pass with your "Degree".
If you want it easy and right now, then you shouldn't go, don't waste your money your not going to get anything out of it except a 40-90K dollar loan for the next 30 years.
ITT is faster:
Fact: It takes the same time, if not longer, then any other school. It amazes me that you take more time and still manage to learn less, if anyhing at all.
You can pick your classes at ITT
Fact: No everything is set in stone, you have no control, Books and classes are forced. Books are not used by any other school besides ITT, their isbn's don't even exist. The economics book goes from ch. 9 to ch 21 WTF? They charge 3x then what the book is worth.
The student laptop program seems good to me
Fact: NO ITS NOT. ITT charges you 3x then what the laptop is worth and what itt paid for it. I got a 120l latitude, itt charged me 1,400 for it. I went to dell the same week, they sold it online for 500 bucks!!! It was soon discontinued within 3 months.
The teachers are qualified:
No they aren't. Some lie and say they thought at XXX school, then why are they teaching at ITT for 30,000 a year? ITT does not require degree's or certification for their instructors.
I can go on and on, if you don't believe me, Visit
