I don't pity the fools

Postby sevenalive » May 25th, 2008, 5:52 am

So tonight at work (just got home btw) i was talking to these 3 guys who all happened to go to Collins College. So first i asked them if they liked it, they all said yes, then i asked them when they started, they all started this year (one started in april). Then i said 3 words, Get out Now. They all got defensive and thats when i told them, this is how it went down. (SA is me, 3C is them)

SA: Get out now
3C: You know what we don't want to hear it.
SA: Oh so how many other people have warned you, maybe you ought to listen to them.
SA: Collin's, Devry, ITT Tech, University of Phoenix are all For Profit Corporations that scam people. They don't care about education or its students because they already screwed you in for 40K for an associates degree.
3C: Other schools don't get you into the field fast enough, plus The last graduating class just got hired at iD and blizzard. (WAIT A MINUTE, Didn't i read that somewhere before, either here or on the internet).
SA: How do you know, you said this?
3C: Collins
SA: They can lie very easily, there job is to get you into the school. Its not accredited.
3C: Yes it is.
SA: No its not, at least not a real accreditation, they are not regionally accredited like real schools, your credits will not transfer to any university or community college.
3C: yes they do
SA: No they don't call a couple schools they will tell you
3C: your wasting your breath, don't bother.
SA: When i went to itt, there was 3 guys who went to collins college, said it was a scam and they decided to go to itt, i didn't have the heart to tell them itt is a scam too.
3C: The only thing bad about collins is the dropout rate: 60%, but they drop out because they can't handle it.
SA: LOL No they dropped out because they figured out its a scam.
3C: Well i know someone who went to collins and now works in the industry he wants and makes 60,000. (to me sounds like a page from a PR book).
SA: There is no way in hell, he must of had outside education or other experience or he is lying because he is ashamed of going there. Look i am just trying to help you out for making a big mistake, causing yourself lots of money and wasted time.
3C: Did you go to Collins:
SA: No i went to a different scam, but i got the hell out and thats what you guys need to do. Do your research, google Collins college scam, or Collins college student feedback or anything else. Real students will tell you.
3C: I did my research they are the only ones who offer the degree i want and can get me into the field quicker.
SA: You should call up companies you want to work for and ask them what they are looking for, what kind of degree's and if they would higher Collins college grad. I guarantee they will not hire you guys. Their degree is not worth the money it's printed on. They have applied science degrees, not Science. Its a big difference.
3C: (really pissed) what ever we don't want to hear it.
SA: Well i tried to warn you guys, but in 4 years i want you to remind yourself of this moment when i warned you, you will never forgive yourself. You'll figure it out soon enough, probably when its too late. Just please do your research and call around, i am not bullshitting you guys, i just want to help ya.
3C: Whatever we already did our research and we like it.

That's when i just said fuck it, i have no pity for stupid fuckers who don't wanna listen. As soon as i said get out they got really pissed, i guess a bunch of people said this. Why in the hell would you listen to a commercial instead of your family and friends telling you the truth. Obviously they cannot be wrong if everyone who has a brain told you to don't go/get out when you told them you want to go there.

If only i could go back and do my research or have someone warn me. If someone did warn me i would have never went. Infact when i did the campus tour, i knew it didn't feel right and i didn't wanna go. But just certain circumstances happened and other shit, so i attended. Within 2 weeks i knew it was a scam, but i didn't wanna pay 5K. I wish i would of gotten out then!

But that little conversation i had with the dumb asses gave me a good idea. I think after we win our lawsuit and get our money. It Takes Time will expand for other for profit schools, and maybe even expand further to real schools.
Have Community colleges section, universities, then sub forums for each state, and if its popular enough, a school can have its own section. I don't think there is another site out there where students can talk about their experiences and whatnot about the school they are attending. Do you guys think its a good idea, or is there a site already around. Of course this site will be about itt until we get our money back.

Some people hate school or have to work full-time and just want a "fast degree" to get ahead in their field. But there's no shortcut in education, and people who refuse to see the facts don't deserve your time.

It Takes Time will expand for other for profit schools, and maybe even expand further to real schools.

Their used to be a site called shittyschools.com that tried to expose other scam schools in addtion to ITT:
http://web.archive.org/web/20030622195537/http://www.shittyschools.com/
Shitty Schools.com is the ultimate resource in locating schools that are beneath satisfactory. We have had enough of these career colleges that seem to pop up overnight like they are freaking multiplying. Some factors contribute to labeling a school shitty. 1) Not having certified teachers, or instructors with proper industry experience. 2) Not having a caring, dedicated faculty. 3) Not getting proper placement in the industry after graduation. 4) Technology at the school isn’t up to date. 5) No proper accreditation, or cannot transfer out credits to a different institution, or 6) Simply teachers who cannot teach or do not care about the students.
The only real students attending ITT Tech are the ones that shouldn't be there.

I think it would be a good idea to expand the site after the itt thing. It will aid people in research when they want to learn about a school. I think it is better to hear from people who attended rather then school officials. Hell I chose Iowa State after ITT because of family history and I know it is a great school because of their academic ranks worldwide.

During the nine months I spent attending ITT, one of the things that blew my mind was the attitude of most of the students.
Most of them had no ambition whatsoever and seemed to hate being there. They just wanted to be handed the grade and didn't care about learning.
Well since I got out of ITT and am currently attending a community college, it is a totally different world. Most of the students at the community college want to learn and have better attitudes.

These for profit schools attract losers and rejects who can't make it at a real school. These people think they can buy a degree and get a good job; but if they don't know anything (and ITT won't teach you shit) they will not be able to keep a job, even if they manage to get one.

Oh i know, that is exactly right doniker, these guys don't look like the best people believe me. They will end up working at a movie theater with the high school kids for the rest of their life.

These types of schools attract the people who are really lazy, had D's and even some C's in High School, or they just don't give a shit. Some of the students at my campus knew it was a scam and we talked about it one day in class (about 10 out of 18~ knew), the teacher had some bullshit lined up for us too. I told a lot of people that itt is a scam, some of them were their for orientation. I handed out strips of paper that said "ITT is a SCAM, Don't GO here, go to ittakestime.org to learn the truth". They didn't care or just thought i was nuts lol.

The shitty thing about it is, all of these crappy loser people who don't give a shit are just feeding the scam.

That's one of the unstated issues regarding schools no one likes to bring up; different schools attract different people, and these people represent the value and character of each school.

I actually visited the ITT I went to several years ago and I was really put-off by the roughness of the students I found roaming the halls and hangin out in the breakroom. Maybe I forgot how it really was there, possibly mentally blocking-out my experience. When I was attending ITT students would swear openly, oftening beginning their questions with something like "F**kin, uh,..." Many were from the military. Many had families and were visibly burned-out, playing video games in the lab or even card games. I've even been threatened for not signing petitions and not helping lazy rednecks with their homework.

During my visit, I ran into a few teachers (or whatever) in the front office and after a few kind words he asked me to get back into the student area where I belong. :x
The only real students attending ITT Tech are the ones that shouldn't be there.

In many of my classes the teachers were totally disrespected. The students would swear, talk during class, and regularly insult the teachers. Most of the teachers seemed intimidated and just blew it off; and went through the motions, they are only there to collect a paycheck and don't give a fuck if the students learn anything or not.
