Energy Breakthrough

Postby ttobba » August 4th, 2008, 6:30 pm

My professor today was really excited about a discovery MIT made over the past week. They have figured out how to massive and cheaply harass our most abundant energy source, Solar. The biggest problem was that we previously couldn't massively store that energy cheaply for when there is no light. That has changed. I am not exactly sure what is it but they have developed a cheap and efficient way to store it at massive amounts. My professor is only worried that big oil companies might buy out the technology and toss it under the rug or find a way to eliminate it.

I'm not worried about big oil companies, but I am concerned that US companies won't get in on it soon enough to make it an American industry. So much is manufactured overseas now, not to mention the outsourcing of engineering jobs. It would be nice if something invented here was acutally developed and made here (for a change).
The only real students attending ITT Tech are the ones that shouldn't be there.
