Good idea?

Postby splucinik » April 25th, 2008, 7:37 pm

I have attended Itt in the past but have not finished, i was going to go back but i did some homework to see if it would be worth it to finish my second 1/2 there....found out that it is a long dark tunnel. any ways they are having an open house in may and i had an idea! I was planning on attending and asking about some of the issues that i have experienced 1st hand as well as others that i have read about online. I think that it would be interesting to see the responses to the questions that i bring up. I wouldn't really be doing this for my self but to get other potential "students" (if thats what we can technically call ourselves.) to think about it and help them make a better decision. Also it will be a long time before they get my money (currently on workers comp because i was working at a warehouse, they wouldn't help me get a job) so if i can take some tuition out of their pocket that would be nice. what do you guys think? is this a good idea? i may record it if i can, but i will post about it after.

just a few days away and i'd liked to be as prepared as posssable. i would like the users of this forum to pitch in and help me get a list of questions to be answered. i'm running short on time tonight to type what i already have but will post them asap. one quick question i have is... From what i understand Itt is a for profit operation. is there any requirement to state what the actual cost/profit from tuition is? let me know and i'll type what i got later.

No, they have no legal requirement to post their profit to actual cost ratio.[*]

  • You should ask them, why do they charge for 4 credit hours and we only receive 2.67.
  • Why did they make students apply for next year loans for this year (they did it to boost stocks and profit readings)
  • Try to get them to give you copies of the enrollment agreement and graduate salaries.
  • Find out their current loan provider (its not sallie mae anymore)
  • What kind of requirements/degree's do their instructors need to have.

Also it would be awesome if you could print out 50 or so flyers (found in the announcement forum, "Spread the Word"), and post them around the school and hand them out. Also put flyers on the car.
I did this for the 2nd time this week, did about 50 on the cars and 10 inside.

Let us know how it goes, we all need to participate in the "Spread the Word" Campaign.

being a publicly traded company they just need to release profits?
*edit* also the freakin open house is noon-8pm on monday...too long for me to stay all day and warn everyone. what do you think would be the best time to go when the most people are likely to be there?

If you could, go there around 2pm, post flyers on all the cars (except staff parking lot), go inside warn people. Then leave and return at 6pm to do the same thing, or at least do the cars again.

It would be the greatest thing if we can turn away at least 50% of the new students!
