Interesting Thought

Well, I don't know where I would post this, too bad there is not a general ITT Tech forum here.

Well I applied for ITT Tech, got in and will start class Sept. 8, Although I thought it was good idea that I got into a technical school since, I could never adjust to a regular college, and wanted some hands on and good learning about my type of field I was interested in, which was Computer and Electronics Engineering.

Don't get me wrong, I still have doubts about it, since the Tuition was kinda fishy if you know what I mean. Well here it is, the 1st time I went to ITT tech, took their entrance exam (Surprisingly it was super easy...you can not fail it at all, you have to score a 13 heh....its just too easy it is fail proof) after that I took the Accuplacer, so that sets me in "hey Accuplacer is used in every college" which is true, I took it during my High School time.

What set me off was ok its $45,000 so I was told by my Rep and then I went to the financial aid supervisor or w/e and it went up 2k so 47 to 48,000 my father was suspicious of this and so was I, but they did this plan where I would get student loans and I was like "thats cool" then I would have to pay 7500 for every 3 quarters and that include the last 2 quarters...so I decided not to join just yet and wait a year to work before anything and told the School Rep, that I could not come up with 800$ a month since I am just a HS grad.

About 2 weeks later I get a phone call saying that I am set, saying that I am good to go and 100% paid for and would have to sign for student loans again in march. Reading all these complaints about ITT Tech, made me even more suspicious of the school since there was lawsuit in 2004 in a Houston Campus, which made me even more wondering, and the fact that I asked if I ever decided to back to school to get a Masters, he said "no, the credits will not transfer"

Right now I am going to school for the 2 years I have chosen and if I drop out right away my parents would be very disappointed, this college is not the only college I got accepted to. I was accepted to a local community college that is about 5 mins away.

I am going to give ITT tech a try, if it is true what you people say about it, then sadly I will have to confront it to my rep and wonder why. I guess its like a Car sales person. lol

No doubt I am still doubt full, if I get a textbook that is not even sold in a public know book store called Barnes and Nobles and the publication date is old hell...Its a waste.

I also wonder, paying 40k+ do even keep anything? like the tools they even give you and the text books and what not's? how about the tutoring how was it?

Right now I have nothing against ITT Tech...just not yet, I am doubt full.

EDIT:: Also, from what I heard they said they were not using Saley mae or w/e and now they use Chase banking, but its funny I got the 2 chase things right away by government student loan and then after 2 weeks they talked to saley mae and got me more to go to school lol.

Save yourself the money, go to your local community college. Read all of the posts here. ITT Tech will do nothing except cost you 45K + High Interest in loans. You are suspicious and very doubtful, follow your instinct and stay away from for-profit schools. Attend a community college or state university, you will thank me, this site, and most important yourself for not falling for this scam.

Quick question though,

For-Profit, means that the school goes for profit for education right? you pay to be educated?

If so, wouldn't the University and Community college be considered that? although it is state runned.

Listen to Seven ALive, Pinoy04. Enroll in a real college and take the time to think about your future. An expensive nationally accredited school that lets everyone in and everyone out with a "degree" will waste your time, money, and energy; it's an unnecessary waste of life. Put your headphones on and read through the articles and testimonials on this board.
The only real students attending ITT Tech are the ones that shouldn't be there.
