ITT Tech Participates in a boat race!

Postby sevenalive » March 9th, 2009, 10:15 pm

Here in Tempe, the campus enters in a contest that is held here every year at Tempe Town Lake. Now i don't know why ITT Tech wants to enter this competition, but it does, without the student body knowledge. I remember them building it last year, it looked like crap.

My cousin works at Home Depot here in Tempe, where ITT Tech came in asking for donations for a school because of a student project, they wanted free paint. Now why does a corporation who profits off students, need money for some stupid competition? When he found out it was ITT, he regretted what he gave them. He told me the story and i started laughing because before he mentioned it was ITT, i already knew.

Now i guess they build this boat and they use it to paddle across the lake. I am trying to find info on the net about this, but so far i can't find anything, except this video:

Seven,

So is it like faculty or something that does this? You said it was without the student body knowledge, I was just curious on who actually "participates" in the event. Seems pretty shitty that they would try to get paint and whatever else for free...especially (like you said) that they rape and drain students for money...pisses me off just to think about it all.

Its not the students, unless its some capstone project. It's the faculty, when i was there is was someone from the LRC and someone else i didn't recognize.

I have no idea why they do this, but it seems like company's take part in this, or at least have ads on the boats. I think they should be fined for this, saying it's for school and shit, it has nothing to do with it at all, and ITT is not a school. If my cousin knew it was ITT, he wouldn't of done it.

There are 2 boats being built by the school. Our program has one but it is built through donated material (student) so I am not sure what happened. This is the first I heard of it, who were the people that requested the free stuff?

According to my cousin, 2 women. One that was overweight, and the other had piercings and tattoos.

Unless the material was actually donated from a student, you can count ITT basically misleading other compaines into giving donations. What they are doing is stealing, because:
a. ITT is not a non-profit.
b. ITT is a corporation that makes millions, can't they just buy that crap.
c. ITT is not a fucking school.

From what I found out was the people from the school asked for a donation and desricbed the project what is and was for and they got approval from a store manager. That is just what I heard anyway.

They described it as a school project, well as you know it has nothing really do to with the school. Why couldn't ITT Tech buy the shit themselves, after all they make $$$. It's not like any it is a necessary thing to do. Infact all of the other companies that participate buy the materials, they don't go and steal from stores.

It's like you going and collecting for a family that lost someone and needs the money to help funeral costs or w/e, but the thing is you are not even affiliated with the family and your planning on keeping the money. Its called fraud and thats what they did.

I believe I know who you are talking about. I don't think they would intentionally look for handouts. I did find out the race is for charity so it is a nice cause. Could it have been a misunderstanding?

Here is what happened according to my cousin who was the person who helped them.

There was a group of them that came up, mainly the 2 girls i talked about previously. They asked for donations of paint, tape and whatever else they can get because they want to make a boat and paddle in it. At first they did not identify themselves, when asked the tattoo girl said she was a teacher, they never said the name. He over heard them planning the design and saying "Ya ITT can go right here...". Apparently last week they showed up again using the same story. Shouldn't the boat race be over by now?

I just think its wrong, especially in these times, that a company who makes a huge profit off of its customers turns around asking for donations from another company, to participate in some boat race. If its for charity, its more like home depot did it and not ITT Tech since they didn't spend a dime, however all of those boats with company names on them (bought) donated the materials themselves. I just think its wrong for them to get donations when they are a for-profit company.

Sounds like fatty and tattoo woman need to be dragged by their necks behind a large, sturdy, thick rope tied to an offroading pickup truck :D

That would be much more entertaining than a boat race.

Shame on them...
