IT Jobs

Postby MSTie1 » April 25th, 2008, 10:03 am

So I've been trying like hell to get a job in the IT field. I thought this would be easy, I've been playing with computers as much as possible since I was 10. So it's a lifestyle for me, not just a career. I've got some certifications already and out to get some more. My question is, what has everybody's experience been when they go to potential employers or staffing companies with ITT listed your resume? I actually asked a Teksystems(national IT recruiting company) guy about what employers thought of an ITT Tech degree, and he said that most employers don't care as long as you have one. So I felt pretty good about that, like maybe I'm not wasting my money completely. What are you guys experiences?

Wow my fake eduction is the same as a real one as far as employers are concerned. That's great news. I thought being lied to and ripped off made me a victim, but I guess ITT Tech and I are partners in crime.
That explains why the "Prisoner's Dilemma" is part of their curriculum.
Muahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahah. Muahahahahahahahahahahha. Muahahahahahahahahaha. Muahahahahahahahahahhahahaha. Muahahahahahahahahahahha. Muahahahahahahahahahah.

(I decided to finish my time at ITT Tech because of the bigger fool theory. Also the credits don't transfer anywhere.)

MSTie1 that was hilarious.

For one thing, you asked an employment agency. For the record i hate employment agencies, i been to about 4 of them. Robert Half Technology, Appleone, ManPower, Teksystems, and a few others.

Robert Half kept setting me up on interviews that i wasn't qualified for, although one guy was going to hire me, but then R.H. screwed that whole thing up. I would call around your area and ask them the qualifications, or just go to monster or another career site. Most of the things they require ITT Tech does not teach.
If you don't like it, MOD IT!

The guy you talked to probably doesn't know what kind of place ITT Tech really is. I've known people who confuse it with IIT (Illinois Institute of Technology), which is a darn good college.
I don't have any experience in the IT field job hunt nightmare, but here's some advice anyway:
1. Find a place that doesn't care about the school you graduated from
2. Find a contract-to-hire job; if they like what you do within a couple of months, chances are they'll hire you on permanently
3. Just be a contractor - it still pays
4. Start your own business
5. Go here: http://www.quintcareers.com/job-seeker.html; the practice questions for interviews helped me a lot

Word. ;)
The only real students attending ITT Tech are the ones that shouldn't be there.
