New Horizons

Postby Alpha Axl » May 26th, 2008, 1:25 am

Just figured I'd tell other people. I left ITT in Nov. '07, and just started New Horizons in April '08. I absolutely love it, and it's only five months long, and $8,000, and get like four certs (only thing needed in the field I'm doing), opposed to ITT's 2 years, $40,000 and a fake degree.

Also, according to my ITT, the average pay would have been $22,000-$24,000/yr with what I got out of them, but when I asked my New Horizons rep, he said the minimum pay they usually put people in is around $35,000/yr.

Just figured I'd try to help people out if they're looking for a computer career alternative!

22-24K is making 12 bucks an hour 40 hours a week. Something i can do without itt tech. Something i did, aka tech support for 2wire modems/at&t broadband
If you don't like it, MOD IT!

I was earning $15.60 an hour (or $32,500 a year) in 2003, working in a warehouse doing shipping and receiving.

All I had was a high school diploma. I would probably still be there if the place didn't go out of business.

When I was at ITT, I talked to a few people that were in there last semester and all they got from ITT were intern jobs that paid minimum wage or call center positions that paid $9 or $10 an hour.

Certifications are pretty good...the IT field is all about job skills not education...

Most of the IT people I work with don't seem very happy. Their work consists of backing-up data, replacing monitors, and running network lines through filthy walls and crevices.
The only real students attending ITT Tech are the ones that shouldn't be there.

Id be happy running cables, replacing monitors, and backing data up if it paid well. At least better than what I'm making now.
So far I've directly stopped 16 people from attending ITT.
16 x 45,000 = 720,000
God only knows how many they've stopped.

I got myself an IT job while attending ITT, paid about $12/hr start, I then moved up to $19/hr. Well, I hated it, babysitting PC's is not my thing, that is why I decided to change my majors, at another college ofcourse. It's funny, our ITT"s Erecruiting crap that they try to force us and post resumes at is pathetic. There aren't any legit employers on there, just Avon... They try to offer us jobs SELLING COSMETICS!!! Great school eh?
