I was 5 years old when i saw the ITT Tech commercials, at the time i didn't realize this wasn't normal after all i was 5. I was really into computers. Anyway, everyone i have ever met or known for more than a month always said i was going to do great things and really do well/be rich. That includes 3 (real) college professors, my family, friends, and just other people. I self taught everything i know about electronics and computers. I don't need an instruction manual for anything, i am an active thinker. I just know where to go or how to do something already, my brain just works like that. I haven't learned anything from a school (including HS, College, ITT) that i didn't already know, however schools do introduce me into subjects. I took a C# class, started doing it on my own, i was far ahead of the class, and knew it more. My final project impressed my professor so much, he thought i been doing C# for 2 years or more, i told him i just started using it when i started the class, however i did other programming previously.
So when it came to graduation (May 05), i had to decide what to do, so i moved from Lake Havasu City, AZ to Scottsdale, AZ to live with my aunt and her family to go to Scottsdale community college (the best CC ever!)
It was going well for the semester, and i had A's for my classes. Then i fucked up over a few issues and they kicked me out. I basically created the best fake City of Phoenix letter and send it to my aunts house as a joke, she didn't think it was funny, then i broke into the verizon account to see the real bill she gave my grandfather (long story on that), then she thinks i pranked called her daughter which i didn't do.
So anyway, the semester was done, and i went back up to Lake Havasu for Christmas and that's when i got the email. Basically saying i was not allowed back there and i was going to stay up in Havasu. Funny thing is, 3 days before that I got luggage as a present, So they got me luggage for Christmas and then they kick me out. I don't blame them for wanting me gone, the cell phone thing was a factor, but it was the Phoenix letter, and the Prank phone call thing i never even did.
So i went back home and did a semester at the community college up there (which sucks compared to SCC). When my family moved to California i had a choice, go to California at a place i don't want to be at and possibly get nowhere, or go up to las vegas and attend itt tech.
I always had this idea in my head ITT Tech was really great and advanced on technology, you know because of the commercials i seen when i was 5. So I went to the school and wasn't impressed, it felt weird being there. It just wasn't what i thought it was. I didn't do any research and did not have a clue how bad it was or how it was a scam. I also didn't read the paperwork entirely, i glanced at it though. Looking at my paperwork now and reading it, i am amazed that i went forward, because there was no way in hell i would have if i have read all of it. After about 2 weeks into my first quarter my suspicions became reality. I didn't drop out because i didn't want to pay $5-8K in 6 months, so i stuck it out. In Feb. of 07, my cousin had his room available and i moved into his condo in Tempe, AZ. I didn't want to transfer into another ITT, i wanted to get out. That is when i started doing my research and found out what i already knew and more. I should of gotten out, but i looked at my loan, at the time is was 13K or so and i didn't want to pay all of that in 6 months, so i kept going.
When i got kicked out, i got called from my aunt, grandma, and my parents. After i told them all the truth about ITT, they understood (at least i think). My aunt told me i should go back to SCC, and i think i will, but its 15 miles from here and the gas prices are outrageous right now. That would be 30 miles each time i go and about 1.5 gallons of gas.
Anyway now you know my story and how i went to ITT Tech aka Biggest Mistake of my life.
