the larger issue at hand...

Hello,
I never attended ITT but i visited them twice here in Las Vegas to hear their bullshit sales pitch. I have a BS computer science from California State Univ. that I got a while back and i worked as a programmer/engineer between 1992-1997. I have been out of the field since 1997. I was looking at ITT tech and other colleges to maybe update my skills and get back in to the field. I had to leave the field back in 1998 because no company was about to hire me and let me learn anything at their expense.
When i spoke to the head adminstrator/counselor i asked her a few questions and stuff but my main concern was employment. I asked her and others about where the students are getting jobs but no one could really give me a clear answer. I asked her about IGT(international gaming technologies) if any of the students got jobs there and she said she never heard of the company. Red flags really went up at that point. IGT is one of the biggest employers in the state of Nevada. Needless to say, I didn't enroll. I am currently trying to get in the medical field.

There's a larger issue at work here that affects all of you guys on this board. This country has serious problems with immigration. Each year the US government imports about 85,000 H1-B visas to work in technical/engineering jobs that americans could be working in. I invite you to look join http://www.programmersguild.org and join the yahoo newsgroups. Even though the market is flooded with all kinds of american talent, big computer corporations are lobbying congress to bring in hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals. Basically the government is pandering to the demands of the greedy corporations who are too cheap to spend money on corporation training programs.

I often say that the hot skills in technology are always the skills you don't have. That's why those skills are hot because no one else has them either.

I used to go to the Henderson campus (Sept-March 07). Just like any other itt school, they are a bunch of idiots. At least the tempe campus had BBQ's and picnics, spending my money to feed everyone else, gotta love that.
If you don't like it, MOD IT!
