Becoming a Technical Professional

Tired of listening to your instructor tell stories about his daily visit to a perfume store? Wonder when your going to get a "hands on" approach?

Becoming a Technical Professional

Postby HaredX » November 8th, 2008, 6:42 pm

I am 2 weeks away from completing my first semester at ITT-Tech. The one and ONLY complaint I have so far is this class, becoming a technical professional, the course material is IDENTICAL to a class I took in 9th grade called "Becoming a Master Student." All they do is teach you pointless shit I already knew, like the basics of Excel and Word(which I think should be prerequisites for attending the school, if you can't use Word what are you doing at a technical college?) The class has been a complete waste of my time taking assessments like; are you a procrastinator, what type of learner are you, etc. I have gotten out of the class 2 hours early every week so far and have 100% in the class, it baffles me how some of my classmates stay the full 4 hours and still have a B in the class.....

But I must say besides that attending ITT-Tech has been the best decision I have made in my life so far. Within 1 semester of school, career services got me the job that I wanted before I began classes, the same job that I had applied for prior to attending ITT-Tech and didn't get. The person who hired me told me that the only reason I got the job now was because I was attending ITT-Tech and the head of career services had gotten me in direct contact with the head of HR at the company where I got the job. I am now making twice what I was making per month prior to attending ITT-Tech and the school has paid for itself.

Well i was happy with your post until your second paragraph. ITT is the worst decision you can make. I know your happy you got that comcast job, but believe me, thats the best ITT can do (If they somehow did help you). Comcast didn't hire you because you were going to ITT, they saw you were trying to go to college, not just get a high school education. ITT tech did not pay for itself. You will end up paying 44K for a 2 year useless degree, plus another 30 grand in interest.

What you experience in that SoTP is what your going to experience in every class. Middle school level material, you don't even need to do the work to get an A. ITT is a company, they scam you, us, and the tax payers. They don't give a shit about academics, that's why nobody can flunk out or not graduate from ITT.

If you don't believe me, take a look around this site more, hell search ITT Tech at RipOffReport.com, check our Articles Section, Check this post too: articles-f23/web-of-lies-i-mapped-itt-tech-s-connections-t114.html

Check out the blog for their so called Job Fair

If you get out now, you will save yourself a shit load of money and will only need to pay between 3-5K, compared to almost 70K for a useless 2 year degree. Try calling up major companies you want to work for (in your field) and ask them what they think about ITT and other For-Profit schools.

Thanks for the laugh, HaredX. Your post has paid for itself!

P.S. - Are you sure ITT is up to par with your abilities? You seem like a smart enough guy.
The only real students attending ITT Tech are the ones that shouldn't be there.

Not to toot my own horn, but I don't think any technical school is up to par with my abilities. Unfortunately, companies are not concerned about my abilities, it doesn't matter that I know more than any of their other employees, the fact that I do not have a degree somehow makes me unqualified at this day in age.

That is true, however ITT Tech, UoP and other for-profit schools are not respected, they are referred to an easy way out, or a diploma mill. Family Guy and other tv shows make fun of them all the time

What did you do, open the door.

Yes i know its a tv show, but the general public obviously agrees.

"Attending ITT-Tech has been the best decision I have made in my life so far."
