My withdraw letter

Postby spitfyre75 » September 20th, 2011, 11:03 am

Thank you so much for all your help! This is the letter that I am taking up to the school. I, unfortunately, have attended five terms at this "establishment" before having my eyes opened to the truth.

9/20/11

To whom it may concern:
I hereby give written notice on this day, 9/20/11, that I am withdrawing from any and all programs of study and financial aid loans and grants. I will not be attending ITT Tech, and would like a signed hardcopy form stating that all loans and financial aid obligations have been cancelled. I would also like all personal information pertaining to me to be removed from any ITT Tech systems, databases, and files. This includes phone number, address, and social security number.

Sincerely:

Congratulations on realizing that you were wasting your time and money. You've probably already delivered this letter to your campus, but I have a couple of comments.

Asking someone to sign in acknowledgment of receipt does not mean that they agree to your terms. You cannot rely on ITT to do the leg work for you, you need to contact your loan servicer (probably Sallie Mae) and let them know that you are no longer attending ITT. The same thing goes for grants, if you're receiving grant money of any kind you need to let the organization granting the money know that you are no longer attending. If you can get a signature, cool, but all that does is show that someone signed a piece of paper you handed them.

You will have to ask specifically for any records you want. I doubt this letter will get that done, you'll have to follow their procedures for obtaining those records.

You did attend classes there for 5 quarters; I'm not sure about this but I doubt there's anything you can do about ITT keeping your information on file or in a database. ITT does extensive business with the government and I seriously doubt that they can just start deleting records. Just get used to the fact that you're going to hear from them from time to time whether you want to or not.

Once again, congratulations for getting out of there and not falling for the hype about "sticking around for the degree".

Yeah good luck trying to get any kind of records from them. I have in person, over the phone and through official government documentation requested my student records and every time they have failed to deliver anything but maybe my class transcripts.
