Screwed Out Of Military Discount

Postby Dubb Sizzle » October 20th, 2009, 2:35 pm

Recently I was called into the Financial Aid office to renew my financial paperwork for another so many quarters (i can't remember). They tried rushing me to hurry up and sign it but I thought to look through it. I noticed that my monthly payments went way up. They said that tuition increased but it still didn't add up. So I noticed that my 10% discount for being a military veteran was gone. They said they got rid of it and not longer offer it. I said that I did not get 10% off of my tuition yet just the 3 quarters that I have completed and that the website said 10% off my tuition. I sent multiple complaints into the financial aid office and even to the director himself. After waiting two weeks I get the answer I was not looking for. I know they are screwing me cause they didn't want to discuss the issue during the signing of my financial papers. They tried to hide the change. After multiple complaints the website referring to the 10% discount quickly changed. But I do have copies of the original. I feel that if you sign up and they tell you that you get 10% off your tuition for being a Vet you should get the full 10%.

I am currently thinking about taking this one to court. I have been told I have a slam dunk case. The website said: Scholarship recipients will receive a 10% reduction in the cost of their ITT Tech tuition, regardless of whether they are currently receiving college fund benefits from the military.

No were does it say partial 10% or does it say until they stop the military scholarship. Their reasoning is that the military scholarship is no longer available. But what about the 10% that has nothing to do with military that's all ITT.

So, I am trying to fight it. So far I am getting nowhere. Going to have a television investigator go knock on their door asking questions and then go the lawsuit route. It will cost them a lot more than what I am asking for

ITT doesn't call me. Then again, calling me would just provoke me.
So far I've directly stopped 16 people from attending ITT.
16 x 45,000 = 720,000
God only knows how many they've stopped.

STOP! DON’T SIGN ANYTHING!
If it says Military Scholarship on your Enrollment Agreement or actually I think it's listed your Cost Summary And Payment Addendum To Enrollment Agreement you should have it. Go back to them show them your cost summary and payment addendum to enrollment where it says military scholarship. Then show them your enrollment agreement:
Enrollment Agreement
21.
ENTIRE AGREEMENT: This Agreement, including the Catalog and all other addenda to this Agreement that are in writing and signed by Student and the School, is the entire understanding and agreement between Student and the School with respect to the subject matter of this Agreement, and this Agreement supersedes all prior agreements, understandings, negotiations and discussions between Student and the School, whether oral or written, This Agreement cannot be amended or supplemented, except by a written instrument signed by Student and the School. If any provision of this Agreement or its application is invalid or unenforceable, the remainder of this Agreement will not be impaired or affected and will remain binding and enforceable,
Cost Summary And Payment Addendum To Enrollment Agreement
6. All of the terms and conditions of this Addendum: (a) are incorporated in the Agreement as if fully set forth therein; and (b) have the same meanings set forth in the Agreement. All of the terms of the Agreement are ratified and remain unchanged and in full force and effect. If any terms of this Addendum conflict with any terms of the Agreement, the terms of this Addendum will control in determining the agreement between Student and the School. This Addendum supersedes and renders void any other Cost Summary and Payment Addendum to the Agreement pertaining to the same Specified Period that was entered into by and between Student and the School prior to the date hereof.

If that don’t work gather the VETs and protest there is nothing else ITT wants less than bad publicity.
Especially if you have a bunch of pissed off Marines. Man theres nothing worse than a bunch of pissed off Marines. HooRah!
Also make sure everyone reports it to the VA.

well supposedly my complaint went to the very top at corporate but still came back with an answer I didn't like. I really don't understand why they can't just suck up the 10% and move on. Cause I am going to make it hurt. It's going to get ugly. You don't mess with veterans benefits that you yourself offered and then took away. They are so stupid. But then again they must be in my math class where we spend half the time listening to the teacher passionately talk about smoking pot.

If this is something that was promised to you prior to enrollment don’t take NO for an answer. The Enrollment agreement says,
“If any terms of this Addendum conflict with any terms of the Agreement, the terms of THIS ADDENDUM WILL CONTROL in determining the agreement between Student and the School.”

One of our best "instructors" used to do the same. Everyone liked him, but during my additional schooling years Iater I realised how much he didn't know about his own field.

It's OT, but you brought it up. Regards.
The only real students attending ITT Tech are the ones that shouldn't be there.

I also have been burned concerning my 10% military discount. My school has a copy of MY DD214, however will not honor their promise of a Military Scholarship even though I fulfilled the qualification requirement of a 2.0 GPA during my first quarter (4.0 actually, my current GPA is 3.9+). I have been getting the "runnaround" for over a year now.
