Student Loan Information - READ NOW!

Postby Seven ALive » January 23rd, 2009, 12:35 am

I just got a letter today which i thought was weird. Sallie Mae sold my loan, those bastards!
If you got a letter like this, Take extra caution with it and verify all info.

I read the letter and thought it was strange, then i went to the website, it was very un professional and offered no information. It always asked to register on the website and wanted personal information, included social security number.

I was already planning to call Sallie Mae themselves since i never received any type of notice and on manageyourloans.com, the loan in question was still under sallie mae.

Then i checked the Whois: http://whois.domaintools.com/ed-servicing.com

However the "claimed" owner is:
Affiliated Computer Services Inc.
but according to this offical website, no mention of the other domain:
https://www.acs-education.com/CS/Jsp/general/home.jsp
Definitely not from the government. On their letter the URL is ed-servicer.com, on the next page it's ed-servicing.com. I highly doubt a company or the government would make this mistake.

Compared the 2 websites, looks the scam artist copied the website but changed the contact numbers and other pertinent information.
Real: 1-800-835-4611 Fake: 1.800.508.1378

I am calling sallie mae asap.
Update:
Well i called sallie mae and they said it was true. I also googled the address and eventually found a document containing the address on the DOE site itself

Well i registered and entered in the information. It has my loan and current due, it showed i did do one payment already. So its a real crap site, but apparently it is real. Sorry for the scare, but you have to be very careful.

I just spoke to a girl from "Commonwealth Financial Systems" at 1-800-848-2170 ext. 116 about my defaulted student loan. who is this???? Am I getting scammed? Is there a statute of limitations on student loans??? Why I really came on here is to find out if anyone knows of a class action suit against ITT for the way they do business....YES, I got screwed to the tune of about $23K and didn't get to finish my education. (this was their decision, not mine!) I had a problem with the "online GenEd" classes that eventually caused my demise. I signed up for in-house, hands-on training but that's not what I got after spending 1 year of my life and $23K....Does not seem fair at all!!! Please let me know where I can join in on any lawsuits involving this rip-off school!!

I am in the same boat, I want to know of any class action lawsuits against ITT. My brother and I both got lied to and tricked by the corupt Business practices of ITT and now want to take them to court. Email me to further details..

I too am looking wondering about a Class Action Lawsuit against ITT Tech. The pell grants, federal loans and private loans, namely from Sallie Mae, has amounted to almost $60,000 for 1 year of being there.

$60,000 is hard to believe. That for maybe 3 years but not 1. It sounds like u took extra for personal reasons like a lot of college students do.
