National Technical Honor Society

So I got a letter in the mail about being invited into the NTHS, from ITT that is. Now ITT says they pay all fees to join the organization which from the application looks to be like $20. I went to their webpage to kinda glean what they are all about, seemed kinda funny that they would charge you to join them if you're being recognized for being a good student. I watched a local nbc affiliate news station do an investigative report on this place called the "national scholar honor society"(or something to that degree)..which sent people postcards in the mail and said if they paid $75 they could join, be able to add them on their resume, and receive a pin. Now I know I don't have to pay anything for the NTHS, and I'm going to do it, couldn't find a catch per se. Just seems fishy, anybody else have experiences?

Sounds a lot like the "National Honor Roll" that one is a scam, lol pay 100 bucks to get a photo and a bio of yourself in a book. Funny they send those to everyone, i had really good grades in HS, but i wasn't in honors classes (nor did i care to take them(.

I remember that one, I was too lazy to fill out the forms. I was in high school and had reports due the next day, why fill out something that wouldn't help me for several years. Dodge that scam by accident.

It used to be called "National Vocational-Technical Honor Society." Check-out the chapters - high schools and the glorious Balin Institute of Technology in California. Community Colleges are listed, but I never saw anything about this organization at the one I attended.

They changed this. Now they charge you $25. I never bothered to join, I figured the money would be better spent on beer.
