A recent segment of "60 Minutes'' detailed unscrupulous recruiting tactics of some for-profit institutions, like ITT Technical Institute, a chain of for-profit schools that charges about $40,000 for two-year associate degrees in computers and electronics. The New York Times reports that former ITT recruiter Amanda Wallace left her job in 2008 after being uncomfortable telling prospective students that they'll be making "beaucoup dollars, and you'll get all of your financial aid covered.'' It was her experience that graduates, even if they are fortunate enough to find a job, will make too little to repay their loans. For-profits are also the most popular choice for veterans with GI Bills.
