Title: For-profit colleges spend less in classes
Date: May 27, 2011
Author: Christopher Magan

Can anyone explain the following statement from the article? What are these other services? The "help" with the student loan paperwork?

“We serve a number of economically disadvantaged students,” Rankin said. “I think the services we offer in addition to instruction drive up the cost.”

I think the help has to do with them selecting all your classes, 'giving' you your books in addition to the 'help' with the student loan paperwork, plus all the phone calls if you are late for a class, and letting you figure it all out on your own in Labs as the instructor is out on smoke breaks. I'm sure there are more ways, but those are the ones that come to mind at the moment

The article lists higher "administrative costs" as the reason they invest so little in the actual classes. "Administrative Costs" also could translate into big salaries paid to the many levels of corporate management. It certainly is not teacher salaries or supplying the schools with good tech - I can assure you..
