Update - NEW RULES MAY HURT FOR-PROFIT COLLEGES

http://diverseeducation.com/article/14371/

The rules would base a school's eligibility to receive federal aid on students' loan repayment history and graduates' ability to land a job.

Good they should not allow federal funding for for-profit schools at all, that would result in the downfall for for-profit schools. Most of the income these schools receive is from me and you, our tax dollars.

That "Thomas" sounds like a commercial for them.

I 'd rather see something done on the front-end of this process than on the back-end, when it's too late to help. The real problem with the for-profits is their sales pitch. If something could be done to stop them from telling outright lies during the admissions and recruitment process, then I think that would do far more good than trying to deal with the aftermath. Maybe we could do something kind of like the warnings on packs of cigarettes....we could mandate that signs be hung at all entrances of for-profit schools stating in big bold red lettering that everything you are told by the staff in this building is most likely a big, fat lie and that you should double-check everything they say.

For one make them stop there misleading advertisement on TV. Damn I'm so frustrated at this school, it ruined my life. I actually went out of my way to learn when I was there, I learned on my own and was smart enough to get decent jobs but right now these degrees are completely useless because anyone can get one till there financial aid runs out. I just lost out on 2 job interviews that went perfect except for the interviewers facial response when they seen I went to ITT. One of the interviews actually said, "or is that IIT. I hope!" NOW I’m like 50K in debt with no creditable education and can’t go back to a real school because this school used all my financial aid and grants. Seriously what are you suppose to do now? Please tell me, how does that support there commercial ads of education for the future. Its sickening!
