You know, as a graduate/graduate student of sociology from a California St University I thought it would be interesting to audit a class at ITT and listen to their theories on crime and criminology as that was one of my concentrations and my academic advisor is one of just under 300 ACTUAL criminology Ph.D's. She has given presentations for all of the major law enforcement agencies in both the US and Europe. So I listened to their lectures under the auspice of monitoring in-class study habits of students at Technical/Vocational schools. I was floored at how little these instructors knew. They were unaware of simple criminological theories which are taught at community colleges across the US. They were unable to answer questions correctly, instead offering their own opinions and advice, none of which had been accepted as scholarly research. It was rather embarrassing to sit and listen to much of the lecture and be encouraged by the fact that these students were paying $40,000 for an AA degree and I obtained my B.A. And M.A. from an actual California State University for just under $28,000. That was my tuition for 4 years as an undergrad and 2 years as a graduate student. My instructors were Ph.D's from UC-Riverside (Top criminology program), Harvard, Oklahoma St, Syracuse, and university of Virginia, just to name a few. You cannot justify spending the money you spent because ASU was increasing class sizes, etc...all state universities are experiencing budget cuts and increasing class sizes. Seven is right, you're missing the grander picture and focusing on your "good" classes. For half the price you've paid for 3 years there my advisor could have taught you everything there is to know about criminology and prepared you for a scholarship to a top notch school like University of Tennessee which one of my classmates was accepted on a full ride.
