Somebody lied about the surveys.

Love how the surveys are forced? Do you love to get 20 emails within 3 days telling you to complete the "optional" surveys?

Somebody lied about the surveys.

Postby SheepToTheFleecing » April 26th, 2008, 7:09 am

I think my teacher lied about the surveys. He said that they were not anonymous. That he knew who put what on their surveys. I later heard that they were anonymous. Them being anonymous makes a lot more sense. (Or at least not having the teachers get access to them.) He also told me that "they" couldn't care less about what is put in the comments sections.

Supposedly they are not anonymous anymore, because of all the negativity i guess.

I don't know why they bother even having the surveys. They could just make up a bunch of surveys and stick students name on them. I just got 3 emails about the surveys. Me and DVD are going to do a experiment, we are not going to take the surveys, instead we are going to keep all the emails we receive. Also record/write down any phone calls we get about them. I remember i waited till the last 3 days, they kept calling me and i got about 40 emails threatening me that i need to take them or they won't stop.

i did this before i graduated. bottom line is that they cannot force you to take them. if you refuse all they can do is harass you about it. the last four quarters i was there i refused to take the surveys and they couldn't do anything about it. They push it because they get a fat bonus if all the students complete their survey.

Yea I don't think they should be forced but it's a free ground to completely vent and complain. I don't know why you guys don't take advantage of it, might as well complain in two places instead of just one. :P And yea they're not anonymouse anymore, so what? That sounds even better to me. And they do get read by the staff at the school,at least I know for sure that our IT chair reads them. He's even in the process of firing some of the crap teachers and changing stuff around. Gotta admire what he's up against though.

have they ever told you how the scale works? they told me:

5: pass
4: neutral
3: fail
2: fail
1: fired

but yeah, i use them to vent anyway. I'm in multimedia, and all we have is really old versions of everything we need.

As far as I know, at my campus, the surveys are NOT anonymous. The teachers nag and nag you to do the surveys if you haven't. If they are anonymous, how do they know you haven't done them?

All schools have surveys like this, not just ITT Tech. As for being annonymous or not, I don't know and don't really care. I do know that instructors do get to see them all for their class at the end of the semester, but I don't see how your grade would be affected without the student having legal recourse though.

at our school if you do the surveys you get your grade raised one letter. for example i had a c+ in one class and it got raised to a B+. we have found that if you use a lot of bad language and use all caps in the comments section your wish would be granted.

Also at our campus, they recently stopped giving out grades for the surveys, for whatever reason.

I have an email mentioning the survey, too.

Dear Student,

Thank you for participating in your course evaluations this term. Your honest and specific feedback is important for improving the quality of your courses. The course student evaluation will be launched on 7/25/08 after 12pm Eastern and close at 12am Eastern on 8/18/08.

The survey may be accessed via the Student Portal from the home page or the Student Survey page listed under the Resources tab. Once you have submitted your results, the survey will be closed and you will not be able to change or make adjustments to any responses.

Please note for all online courses the Student Course Evaluation is completed within the online courseware as an assignment during Week 8. Only resident course evaluations, graduate surveys and annual surveys will be completed via the Student Portal.

Please note that for this survey, the results are not anonymous. Limited personnel will be able to see individual responses. The change has been made mainly for compliance purposes and to ensure appropriate follow-up action at the school-level. If you would like school administrators to contact you about your comments, please include your name in the survey comment.

Please contact an Academic Support Coordinator at 877-456-7134 if you have any questions or problems accessing the evaluations.

an interesting concept for surveys. I wish the ones I had taken would have done that but then again I actually did my work and didn't need it. Good to see you got something out of your education though. I would be curious what wishes you got granted by using all caps and foul language. It just doesn't sound like a convincing approach to be taken seriously.

You don't see how huh? Think about it; it will come to you. I'll give you a hint. I am wondering if you are new to our planet. Here is another hint. I am also wondering if you were born yesterday.

No shit.

The math teacher I had (for 2 courses) begged us for 10 minutes during 3 sessions each semester to give him a good review....what a pathetic loser and teacher he was.

He basically gave us all the answers to the tests in advance. The choices for each problem were either A B C or D and he told us the answers were always A or B, so the A and B answers were a logical answer or something so far fetched a moron would choose it.

During one class he told us after one hour that he had something to do and told us he had to go....and just took off. I was paying $100+ per hour for a class with no teacher.

ive heard all these same stories at mount prospect illinois. they first told us that they were annoyomous and the only way they knew the students hadnt filled them out was because of the list that was generated saying these students still have open surveys. later it was changed so that the personnell could see our answers and not teachers. later teachers had access to them because someone..and possibly more than one person... put some nasty things on the survey and the teacher came back after us and THREATENED OUR LIVES..he litterally said he wud kill the people who said the nasty things they did.
