I dont know why everyone is hating on ITT-Tech, I attend ITT-Tech in Eden Prairie MN. I submitted my resume to the career services the first week of school and before the end of my first semester even came they had already gotten me a job working at Comcast installing TV and Internet services making twice as much as I was making before that. This was the same job that I had applied for before attending ITT-Tech and they told me they were unable to offer me a position. As soon as I started ITT-Tech I threw it on under my education on my resume, the head of career services got me in contact with the head of HR at Comcast and I got the job on the first interview. The school has already paid for itself and I havent even finished my fist semester yet.

Sorry HaredX but the school did not pay for itself. Your a cable installer, it doesn't require a degree and you could of gotten the job without spending $44,000 + another $32,000 interest.

I will try to go to the ITT Tech here today and take a picture of that stupid graduate wall, there you will see everything is working at a call center for $11, you can get that job without ITT.

They used to provide a job leads packet every week at my old ITT. It was a collection of photocopies and emails from companies looking to hire desperate chumps like myself - 90% of the jobs for graduates were between $11 and $15 per hour. My first job was about $13.5 dollars per hour which is a big deal to some people and actually was about double my then current salary of $6 per hour. This was at the tail end of the Beavis and Butthead era.

But this new job did not require a degree; I could have simply hired-on as a line assembly person, took the tech tests the company gave out and worked my way up.

First of all, I am making $16 an hour, and that's starting pay. I get bumped up to $19 an hour next month when I go through training to get to the next level of communications technician and then I get $3 raise/year every year in October. Secondly, as I already stated in my original post, this is the SAME POSITION I applied for merely MONTHS before starting at ITT-Tech, I did not get the job then, and as soon as I started at ITT-Tech I got the job right away. The HR from Comcast even told me they prefer their employees attending ITT-Tech so they can move up in the company quickly. So no, I couldn't have gotten the job without ITT-Tech.

hmm thats reminds me, i need to take some photos of that stupid wall.

I highly doubt the HR person said that one. For one thing, it could be all timing, you could of given a bad interview the first time, there are many factors. You don't even have a degree from there yet, so i don't know how you could even say they got you the job.

Just to be clear, no school makes promises, however ITT Tech does and they stopped doing that when they were in multiple lawsuits. Now they make you sign another document stating that you understand no promises given.

What the majority of us are complaining about No accreditation, credits DO NOT transfer (No matter what ITT says, check with the actual school you want to transfer to), no academic integrity, open book classes/tests, instructors that don't do anything, books that are nonexistent outside ITT Tech, shady business practices, fixing of grades (falls under academic integrity), etc.....

That is why i named this site, IT Takes Time....for you to realize that the same old bullshit is not changing. It usually takes someone 9-13 months to seeing the truth and stop being brainwashed by a corporation.

They are legally not a school, that is why it's a Institute, not college, university, school. ITT Tech is a for-profit "educational" corporation who publicly trades in the NYSE.

is that $3 an hour raise every year or a 3 dollar a year raise?

$3 an hour raise every year is hard to believe, especially in today's economy.

I know people that make over $60,000 a year, have 4 year degrees and have tons of experience working for major corporations and they don't even get a $3 per hour raise a year, every year.

With today's economy most companies are cutting jobs, freezing pay raises and if they are hiring it is for low pay because people are desperate.

Even assuming you were making $20 an hour it would take you, at a minimum, 3-4 years to pay back your loans. That's assuming you basically lived on scraps, borrowed at a good rate, worked 40 hrs a week, etc. Now, add the two years you spent in school NOT working, and you get at least 5 -6 years of work to get to ZERO. Congrats. I'm not trying to be harsh, but maybe it's time to reevaluate what you're doing and get out while you still can. I guarantee you can get a cable guy job without a "degree" fro ITT. Best of luck.

Positive stories? I guess the great thing I got out of ITT Tech was I met 6 people at my school who I can buy pot from. I wouldn't be surprised if they made more money doing that compared to anything graduates would be doing

The ITT Tech I attended in my state is accredited it can not function in this state unless it is. Credits do transfer you just have to check with the schools to find if they will take your credits we have several in PA that takes them. I did not have open book test and I have had some fantastic teachers. We never had fixed grades at my school we started with 15 students in the CEET program we were left with 4 the rest where failed and kicked. Not all ITT Tech are the same or are run the same it varies state to state it should not be that way, but it is. Some states are very lenient and some are very strict on the schools that are in their state. It was hard maintain a good grade at my school we had to work for it no one handed us anything.

I am not saying ITT Tech is a great school and that they do not have there own issues, but I do not like generalizations that all ITT is the same. I have been going to ITT Tech for many years and received 2 Associate degrees from them and working on my Bachelor soon to graduate in March. If I did not have a good experience with them I would not have gone back. I would not have gotten my job as a computer system analysis, because it required a degree to get the job. Every job I was offered was only ones requiring a degree nothing less. I am sorry you had such a horrible experience, but not all student have.

Glad you're satisfied with ITT. Two questions:
1. What "degree" are you going for? I only see associates in PA: http://www.itt-tech.edu/campus/state.cfm?state=PA
2. What is a "Specialized Technology Degree"?
