IM IN IM IN IM IN!! Yahoohoo!

Just wanting everyone to know that I'm a freshman (started Dec 09) in ITT Tech and road to success is clear as glass =)
I will report any anomalies and/or complaints.

Teachers know their stuff. A lot of enrollments this quarter, many classes has to split in 2.

Funny thing is that my "Financial Counselor' told me to give my payments if possible to her so there would be some type relation to better know me etc. I went with 2k cash for my quarter payment. She was busy with another student so I just waited outside her office. She told me what did I need. I told her, "To pay for me quarter." she said, "well, Im busy with someone, There are other staff members you can go to." I was like ehhhh.. :? .. but didn't you say....... whispers leaving b*tch.......went to another nice counselor who took my money. yay =)

now that I think of it there are 3 hypothesis why she might said that:

1) She didn't want me to waste my time (how sweet)
2) She didn't want me to hear how she convinces another soon-to-be alumni with Financial Aid
3) She's just a cold hearted b*tch

Are you kidding me? Why would you be happy about ITT Tech. Did you even read this site? I suggest you do. Why did you give them 2k in cash, i suggest you do your research and open your eyes. Your making a big mistake.

BTW the reason why she wanted the money is because she gets commission from the "sale", as in you enrolling is a sale to her and she gets $ for enrolling you.

Just to clarify for the casual reader, $2000 does not come close to covering an entire quarter at ITT Tech. It is maybe over three times that. (Mulpiply that by eight to "earn" an AAS. Credits do not transfer.) And don't forget the compound interest.

Maybe you are looking too much into the lady being busy at the moment. Maybe not, IDK. She was busy getting another commission.

Your "Financial Counselor" does make money when you sign the loan agreements. There are laws in place as to how that is handled and from what I understand they follow them to the letter. One might say they skirt the laws. (on paper.) On paper, every little thing they do is perfectly legal. I guess.

Good luck guy. What is your major? (Just kidding. It doesn't matter. You won't learn a damn thing anyway.)
I suggest a nice community college. Even some not-for-profit colleges can lean towards being a rip off.
Look man, go to the site of the accreditation agency and look at the list of schools they accredit. ITT makes up a huge chunk of them. They are basically in the employ of ITT Tech.

This really isn't the place to mention it, but shortly after all those ITT campuses and the ITT national headquarters got raided by the FBI (2004), the school started a Criminal Justice "program". Talk about making lemons into lemonade. Those ITT executives are some good business people and they know how to get along with everybody.

I think about that school everyday. I cannot remember a day that has gone by that I didn't get (relatively) upset from thinking about that school.

God help us all.

PS. My poor, innocent, naive DarkPrince. Just make good decisions. The best advice I ever received was, "Get over it."

Also, the entrance exam is NOT an entrance exam. They tell EVERYBODY that they "did really well" on it. The exam just makes ITT seem like a legitimate college. They are professional salespeople and you have been had. There is no shame in it. They are professionals. It is what they do. You were lied to about what you will know when you graduate and about how seriously your degree will be taken. You were also lied to about "Career Services." You will graduate with a degree and whatever overpriced books and equipment they sell you. Very little of which you will ever use or understand. (It is an act and they are props.)

I have a serious question. What makes you say that the teacher's know their stuff. How could you possibly know that? (Even I can sound like I know my stuff.)

Seriously though, I have been joking this whole entire time. ITT Tech was totally worth the $50,000 for an AAS. I have all kinds of marketable skills and they hooked me up with a job that has plenty of room for advancement. The teacher's were well payed, knew their shit, were emotionally stable and friendly (enough), and weren't slackers and the academic integrity was top notch. Best decision I ever made. I whole-heartedly endorse ITT Tech. Those people helped my dreams come true. I thank God everyday for those people. Thank you ITT Tech. And G-d bless everybody.

One important thing that I have learned during my 46 years on this earth is that "anything worth while in life does not come easy".

ITT advertizes that they can make a person into an IT professional in under 2 years.

During my enrollment, I was told that "even a person who has never seen or touched a computer will have the skills and knowledge to get a good paying job ($40,000 to $60,000 per year range) after attending ITT for 2 years".

Bullshit. Sure, I only stayed at ITT for 9 months but that was all it took for me to realize I was learning absolutely nothing. I was getting A's and B's and I didn't understand a fucking thing that was going on.

To everyone, Thanks for your opinions and comments. I do appreciate the worry and trouble i will get into. I did a little mistake about my 2k payment. Its a monthly payment not a quarter payment.

A little about myself:
Gradute from H.S 2 year ago. Went to college to find out there weren't many courses for me to take on the career I want (systems Engineer). It also bores me to take English, Reading and health classes etc. So I decided to check out some Tech Schools. To my despair ITT was only 15 minutes away. I'm a so called geek and been on computers since age of 15. I'm not a Expert at it, but I can garantee to fix your PC. I also Studied Cisco networking in College. After I passed my 2 out of 4 courses there were. The 3 course never showed up on the catalog due to the lack of students who didn't pass the 2nd.....WTF.

When i went to ITT TECH I wasn't had. I knew what I was getting into. The so called "Entrance Exam" was a joke. You get to answer 50 Q in 12 minutes... answered up to 45 and i got a score of 26 . The sales lady showed me a roster and there were some scores of 8 and highest were 32. So yes, They let anyone in. The commercials I could care less.

What makes you say that the teacher's know their stuff. How could you possibly know that? (Even I can sound like I know my stuff.)

It would be obvious if they didn't. We all know the symptoms of teachers who don't know their stuff. I too said if I didn't learn anything the 1st quarter I'd leave.
My Math teacher. I understand almost everything up to Pre-Calculus. I like this teacher and "I" think he is a good teacher because he has a way of making it easy to understand. I don't know what makes a teacher 'good'. It can be Degrees? Smartness? Charisma? To me is the way he makes it easy for us to understand.

The books are fairly good. The Tech book starts of nice and easy. Statistics start of somewhat challenging since it starts with methods of Advanced alegbra.

Also it's funny how many people here complain about not learning anything. "I know about computers so i enroll in a tech school to learn more and become more specialized. WHAT!? I know this already. I thought since this is a SPECIALIZED ELITE tech school then i must be learning something I do not know like fixing a motherboard or change platter of a harddrive". ahahah. You got ownt yourself. IF you know about networking/computers then why ever attend a Tech school? By just looking at the damn course list for the next 2 years that should have made you not enroll.

The teachers are just there to make it easier the students to understand. It's up to you to learn. If the teachers can't explain crap, then do it yourself. The teacher is obviously following the book. The book itself has all the information you need to be able to understand. You don't even need the damn teacher. I wasn't expecting my teachers to be any good from what i read here. That is a nice bonus to have.

As long as my AAS or BA gets my foot in the door I'm satisfied.

In America its not about what you know but what you got. <= debatable, but in the end it's true. Words alone won't get you a job.

Most jobs require a BS, which ITT does not offer since it skips the essentials for a BS. An ITT or any other for-profit degree is not respected, that's a simple fact. You can earn a AS at a local community college and then transfer to a university. It will be a lot cheaper and it will give you more experience and a respected degree. Remember credits do not transfer to other institutions besides another ITT Tech. After a quarter there you will be 8K in debt.

I personally never had an issue with my last Calculus teacher aka College math II, he was really good and he didn't let anyone slide. (However he still gave odd questions only which can be found in the back of the book). What happened to him? Well students complained because he actually was teaching something. The associate dean came in the classroom, the students complained. Some didn't (me included), but he got fired. I felt bad for that guy, but he was qualified to teach and if your qualified you shouldn't be working at ITT-Tech. I knew 2 programmer teachers, C++ and Java, they told me some interesting things. There pay is crap, so much that the java teacher is living in a studio apartment and he doesn't even have a computer at home. WTF he is a programmer and doesn't own a computer. Now that might be his financial situation outside ITT, but that also proves how low the ITT salary is. Of course teacher's over the course of my stay said they had degree's and even worked at ASU. That is hear say, why would you leave ASU for ITT?

The reason why no one respects ITT degree's, they have no academic standards. As you said yourself they let anyone in (insert family guy devry joke here). They inflate students grades, it's impossible to fail. They don't want anyone to fail because if they fall below a certain threshold they get less government money, which accounts for most of their income. It also changes student perception. That's why ITT works, there are too many slackers that can do nothing and pass and they think by doing nothing they are going to get everything. So by not doing a damn thing in class, they pass, so why do any work. They get the degree and now they find out they won't get hired. So now they find this site, and complain ITT didn't give me a job, when they should be complaining about the poor no academic standards, high inflated cost, and middle school material.

Anyway, i hope you take a serious look at your future and don't take the easy way out. ITT might seem like an easy way, it is....to 46-90K in debt.

Listen to Seven and BAIL OUT, DarkPrince. Otherwise, it's going to suck to be you in a few years.
The only real students attending ITT Tech are the ones that shouldn't be there.
